Your projects and pursuits are more than a series of to-do items. That’s why Superlist gives you the flexibility to organize tasks, notes, and images however you want. It’s not just a list. It’s a Superlist.

Create a list

Click + New list — available from the sidebar or from Lists — give your list a clear title, and you’re ready to start planning!

The way you format your lists is totally up to you. Click the block handle or type / to browse and add a content block to your list. Currently, we support:

  • Tasks: Tasks represent anything you want to get done. They can contain a due date, a label, an assignee, and additional details. If your task contains subtasks, it will also display a progress indicator.

  • Paragraph: Use the paragraph block when you want to add text to your list. As you’re editing, select a range of text and use the inline editor to hyperlink, bold, italicize, or strike through text.

  • Headings: Use H1 and H2 styles to divide your list into easy-to-scan sections.

  • Images: Illustrate your ideas with inline images. Superlist supports all image file formats up to 25MB.

  • Attachments: Add important attachments to give your list extra context. Superlist supports files up to 25MB.

Customize your list

You can help your lists stand out with emoji and custom imagery. Open a list, hover over the image in the right-hand panel, and click on the gear icon to see your customization options.

Update an emoji

Choose a new emoji by selecting one of the presets, or by clicking the plus sign to open the emoji picker. If you want to quickly update emoji, you can also click on the emoji of any list in your sidebar.

Update the cover image

You can use cover images to help each list stand out. You can choose from one of our six custom-created dreamscapes, or click the image icon to upload your own image. Superlist supports image files up to 25MB.

Star, share, or delete lists

Superlist supports an unlimited number of lists. As you create more lists, you’ll find that some are meant to be referenced daily or monthly, and some might only be temporary.

At the top of your list, you’ll see a menu that helps you manage list sharing and visibility.

Manage privacy

New lists are private by default — you’ll see a lock icon and Private in the sharing settings, so there’s never confusion over who can access your list content. Click on the sharing settings and you’ll see the option to invite other Superlist members to your lists. There are some restrictions on sharing while we’re in beta. Learn more about sharing and inviting here.

Add lists to your sidebar

You can add specific lists to your sidebar so that they’re easy to reference. Just click the star icon at the top of your list to add it to your sidebar. Initially, it will appear under the default section in your sidebar, but you can manually reorganize it later.

Delete a list

If you complete a project or create a list by mistake, you can easily delete any list you’ve created. Click the three-dot menu and select Delete list. This cannot be undone, and it will delete all tasks and subtasks within a list, so double-check your list before deleting it.

Organize lists in sections

Sections offer a way to group and order your lists. You can create sections to separate your work and personal lists, organize lists related to a specific project, and more. Create as many sections as you need to give structure to your work.

Create a section

Hover over the sidebar and click New section to create a section. To add existing lists to a section, navigate to Lists and drag lists into the section. You can also create new lists in a section by hovering over the section and clicking New list.

You can order lists and sections by dragging and dropping them in the sidebar. Right-click to quickly create new sections or rename and remove existing ones. Removing a section won’t affect the lists within it.

View all lists

Click on Browse all next to the Lists option in the sidebar to view all lists you have access to. This includes both lists you’ve created and those that have been shared with you.

From this view, you can see the titles of lists, their creators (if a list was not created by you), whether they’re shared or private, and whether they’re visible from your sidebar. If you have access to many lists, you can use the search field to quickly find a list by typing its title.
