Connecting Superlist with AI tools (MCP)
You can connect your Superlist account directly to AI assistants that support MCP, so they can read and update your lists and tasks for you. This article explains what the Superlist MCP is, what you can do with it, and how to set it up.
What is the Superlist MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. In plain terms, it's a secure bridge that lets AI assistants talk to other apps. The Superlist MCP is the bridge between your Superlist account and any AI tool that supports MCP. Once it's connected, you can ask the AI to do things in Superlist using everyday language — no copy-pasting, no switching tabs.
Where do I find the Superlist MCP?
The Superlist MCP lives at this address:
You'll paste this URL into your AI tool when adding a new connector or MCP server.
Connecting Superlist to Claude
Here's how to set it up in Claude specifically:
Open Claude and go to Settings → Connectors → Customize → Add Connector.
Paste in the Superlist MCP URL:
https://app.superlist.com/mcpClick Connect and sign in with your Superlist account when prompted.
Approve the permissions Claude is asking for.
In the new browser window, click "Authorize" to log in to your Superlist account
That's it — Claude is now connected to your Superlist, and you can start asking it to read, add, or update tasks in plain English.
Connect Superlist MCP to ChatGPT
In ChatGPT on Web (this option can only be found in the Chat GPT Web App):
Click your profile (bottom-left corner)
Go to Settings
Navigate to Apps
Click on Advanced Settings
Enable Developer Mode
Go back and click on "Create App"
Enter the information as below, using https://app.superlist.com/mcp as the MCP Server URL
Set "OAuth" as the Authentication method, and click on "Create"
In the new browser window, click "Authorize" to log in to your Superlist account
What can I do with it?
Once connected, you can ask your AI assistant things like:
"What's on my plate today?"
"Add 'Pick up dry cleaning' to my Errands list."
"Create a new list called Q3 Launch and add these five tasks: …"
"What's overdue?"
"Move all unfinished tasks from yesterday to today."
"Summarize what I got done this week."
"Draft a project plan in Superlist based on this meeting transcript."
You can also have your AI assistant pull tasks into other tools — for example, "Take everything assigned to me this week and turn it into a status update I can send my manager."
How does this actually help me?
A few ways it tends to save people time:
Capture without context-switching. If something pops into your head while you're chatting with your AI, you can add it to Superlist without leaving the conversation.
Plan faster. Your AI can take a messy braindump, meeting notes, or an email and turn it into a clean list of tasks in Superlist.
Get a daily overview. Ask your AI each morning what's on your plate — it'll pull from Superlist and summarize.
Automate the boring parts. Reschedule overdue work, tidy up lists, and turn long documents into action items in seconds.
Which AI tools can I connect?
Any AI tool that supports custom MCP connectors will work — this includes a growing number of assistants and developer tools. If your AI tool has a "Connectors," "Integrations," or "MCP server" option in its settings, you're good to go. See the section below for step-by-step instructions for Claude.
Do I need a paid Superlist plan to use this?
You'll need an active Superlist account. Most MCP features work on standard plans, but some advanced functionality may require a Superlist paid plan. If you run into a feature that won't work, the AI will let you know.
Is it secure? What does the AI tool see?
Yes. The connection uses a standard OAuth login, which means:
You sign in directly to Superlist — the AI tool never sees your password.
The AI tool only has access to the data your Superlist account already has access to.
You can revoke access at any time by removing the connector inside your AI tool.
Most AI tools will also ask for your permission before making changes (like adding or deleting tasks) the first time they try.
How do I disconnect Superlist from my AI tool?
You can disconnect in two places:
Inside your AI tool: find Superlist in the connectors or integrations list and remove it.
Either one will end the connection.
It's not working — what do I do?
A few quick things to try:
Make sure you're signed in to the same Superlist account you want the AI to access.
Disconnect and reconnect the MCP — this fixes most authentication hiccups.
Confirm your AI tool supports custom MCP connectors.
If the AI says it can't find a list or task, double-check the exact name in Superlist — it works best when names match.
