Ready to start collaborating on your to-do list? Here’s how to delegate work and share updates with others.

Assign a task to a list collaborator

When you’re ready to start assigning work, hover over a task and click the avatar icon. If you’ve already added someone to your list, type their name into the drop-down menu to assign the task to them.

The assignee will receive a desktop notification and see the new task in their inbox.

Assign a task without sharing a list

You can also assign a task to someone without sharing the list it belongs to. Click the avatar icon next to the task and search for the name of your collaborator, or enter the email address connected to their Superlist account.

The assignee will receive a desktop notification and see the new task in their inbox, but they won’t be able to see the list it belongs to.

If you enter an email address and don’t see a name, that means there isn’t a registered Superlist user with that email address. While Superlist is in private beta, tasks can only be assigned to current Superlist users. If you’d like to invite someone to the beta to collaborate with them, please reach out to [email protected].

View all assigned tasks

To see all tasks you’ve assigned to others, click on Tasks in your sidebar.

Click the sort icon to list tasks in the following order:

  • Assignee: Sort tasks by who is responsible for them.

  • Due date: Sort tasks by when they need to be completed.

  • Creation date: Sort tasks by how recently they were created.

  • Source: Sort tasks by their original source, such as Slack, Figma, or GitHub.

  • List: Sort tasks based on the list they’re part of.

Discuss tasks with messages

Some tasks are straightforward; others require discussion. You can leave text and voice messages in Superlist to keep your team up to date and keep communication centralized.

To add a message, click the arrow next to a task to open its details view. Scroll to the bottom and you’ll see an option to leave a message. You can either type your message or click the microphone icon to add a voice message.

If you’re adding a text message, you can mention other collaborators by typing the @ symbol and their name. Mentioning someone will allow them to see the task, even if they don’t have access to the list it belongs to.

View recent messages

Click on Messages in the sidebar to quickly view recent messages on tasks you’ve created, been assigned to, or been mentioned in. Clicking any message will open its associated task.
